The match between “Ajax” and “Feyenoord”, interrupted on Sunday due to incidents in the stands, resumed on Wednesday for the last 35 minutes. The guests won a convincing victory with a score of 4:0.
Ajax Amsterdam – Feyenoord 0-4, Dutch Championship derby
Ajax fans were hoping for revenge against Feyenoord after missing out on the title last season, but Sunday’s match was halted after just 55 minutes.
With the score 3-0 in favor of Feyenoord, angry fans threw objects and torches onto the pitch and the referee decided to end the match.
In the first half, the visitors gave a real football lesson. Gimenez’s double in the 9th and 18th minutes and Igor Paixao’s goal in the 37th minute made the score at halftime.
When play resumed, Ajax were unable to close the gap and Jimenez completed his hat-trick after another goal in the 59th minute.
If Feyenoord rose to the third position, ahead of one point, then the “spear-bearers” have a disastrous start to the season.
Ajax have collected only 5 points in the first five stages and are in 14th place, much closer to the relegation zone than the first places.
