This was reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who announced that he would sign a three-year contract.

Montella began his coaching career with Roma under-15s and previously coached Catania, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, AC Milan, Sevilla and most recently Adana Demirspor.
He also played football as a striker and played 20 matches for the Italian national team. Montella scored 3 goals for Italy.
In the 2000/01 season, he won the Serie A title with Roma, which also featured Gabriel Batistuta and Francesco Totti.
