Michal Proberg will replace the Portuguese Fernando Santos as the head coach of the Polish national team, the Polish Football Federation (PZPN) announced on Wednesday.
The new coach of the Polish national team is Mihael Proberg
Santos left the coaching staff of Poland after less than eight months, during which the team suffered defeats against the Czech Republic, Moldova and Albania.
Poland are 4th in Group E and qualifying for the 2024 European Championship will be a tough task for Probierz.
Former Polish youth coach Probierz will also play in preliminary matches against the Faroe Islands (October 12), the Republic of Moldova (October 15) and the Czech Republic (November 17). Three wins would not ensure qualification for the final tournament in Germany (he also needs a mistake by Albania or the Czech Republic).
Michal Proberg has been appointed as the coach of the Polish national team. This is the best possible choice. I wish the new coach good luck” – Cesarii Kulesha, president of PZPN.
Preliminary matches of EURO-2024, rating of group E
1. Albania (goal difference 8-3) 10 points
2. Czech Republic (7-2) 8 (-1 match)
3. Republic of Moldova (5-5) 8
4. Poland (6-8) 6
5. Faroe Islands (2-10) 1.
