American Wayne Odesnyk ended his professional tennis career after a 15-year suspension. Formerly ranked 77th in the ATP rankings, Wayne talks about the fight with the ITIA and believes that Simona Halep’s punishment could be reduced with a CAS appeal.

At the age of 37, Odesnyk has experience of doping and the sanctions he received for it.
In 2010, he was sentenced to two years in prison after being caught with vials of HGH (growth hormone), which was reduced to one year on appeal.
However, he did not calm down and five years later violated the anti-doping regulations again, and this time the punishment ended his career: 15 years of disqualification.
The American talks about the uphill battle with the ITF and ITIA and says Simona Halep’s ban is likely to be reduced to two years.
However, Wayne Odesnyk says it will take a lot of patience from Simona: the appeal will take at least six months, and the total inactivity period could be somewhere around two years, which is the amount the American says he can get as a suspension after the appeal.
According to Wein, there are two big scenarios for Halep: her term is reduced and, at best, she can return in time for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, or the suspension allows her to play in 2025.
Be that as it may, the American’s options are optimistic, and this is because if the 4-year suspension remains, then the ex-WTA leader can theoretically return to the tennis court on October 6, 2026. Then Halep will be 35 years old.
