Holger Rune has lost seven matches in a row and now the Dane has opened up about the problems he has faced in recent months.
Holger Rune, poor results due to herniated disc
The Danish athlete, who is ranked 4th in the ATP ranking, explained that he was playing with back pain due to a herniated disc. Roon (20) says he will take a break to fully recover.
“As you probably know, my back has been giving me problems for the past few months. I’ve tried different solutions and sometimes it seems better, but often the pain is limiting.
We know what caused the problem and it’s fixed, so we’re going to get rid of the inflammation so we can play freely again. We will take measures in this regard as well.
I’m happy to work with my old team again and thank you to everyone who supports me. It means everything to me. Dreams and goals are higher than ever. I’m number 4 in the world and the journey has just begun” – Rune of Holger on Instagram.
“During the oral season I had a pinched nerve in my fifth lumbar vertebra, so it’s not very good. I know it can be fixed and now I am going to devote all my time to this goal.
I feel like I can’t play at the level I want to, even though I’m ready to give 100%. I don’t get the same speed with the service and I don’t earn those free points with the service.
I need to take care of my back to serve well again. When I come back, I will be ready again, I will not come back just to participate in tournaments” – Rune of Holgerfor TV2, quoted by UbiTennis.
In a separate interview, Anneke Rune (Holger’s mother) explained what her son was going through: “It hurts every time he passes, and high doses of ibuprofen have no effect. The pain started in Rome and intensified at Roland Garros. Since then, Rune has been diagnosed with a herniated disc, which has caused him a lot of pain.”
