The ATP leader needed an hour and 48 minutes to overcome the world number 25 Spaniard, 6-3, 6-4.

With this success, Serbia needs just one win to beat Spain, after Laszlo Jere (37 ATP) edged out Albert Ramos-Vinolas (95 ATP), Carlos Alcaraz’s replacement in the Iberian squad.
