Romania’s women’s national table tennis team advanced to the round of 16 of the European Championships on Monday after defeating Slovenia in their second Group B match.
In the first game in Malmö (Sweden), our athletes defeated Croatia with a score of 3:0 and performed equally successfully against Slovenia.
Eliza Samara won the first match of the day against Ana Tofant in three sets 11-8, 11-4 and 11-2.
Immediately after, Bernadette Shox, a CSA Steaua Bucharest registered athlete, defeated Katarina Strazar in three sets 11-5, 11-4 and 11-4.
In the last match, Andrea Dragoman met Sara Tokic, whom she also defeated in three sets with a score of 11-5, 11-5 and 11-7.
The Romanian women’s national team ranks 4th in the list of the most successful players selected for the European Championship, where they won 5 gold, 6 silver and two bronze medals. The last medal was in 2021 in Cluj-Napoca, where Germany beat us in the final.
