The men’s volleyball team of Ukraine achieved historic success at the European Championship, defeating the Olympic champion France in Tokyo.
The athletes, coached by Sergiu Stanka, won in four sets with the score 25-23, 16-25, 25-18 and 25-21.
Romania are currently in 2nd place in Group D but could still go down the rankings with the results of their last 3 games: Portugal v Turkey (Monday, 20:00), Greece v France and Turkey v Israel (Tuesday).
Romania has 5 medals at the European Volleyball Championship, including one gold (1963), two silver (1955 and 1958) and two bronze (1971 and 1977).
