The Ferrari driver was the fastest, managing to overtake even reigning champion Max Verstappen, who finished second.
The podium was completed by Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).
An unpleasant surprise in qualifying was Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who finished tenth.
Lewis Hamilton also did not improve and finished only 8th.
The Italian Grand Prix will take place on September 3 from 16:00.
