
The Romanian national volleyball team missed out on the quarter-finals of the 2023 CEV EuroVolley Women’s European Championship on Saturday after losing 3-1 to France (25-23, 26-16, 21-25, 25-23).

Romania, ranked third in Group B of the European Volleyball Championship, came close to taking the match to a fifth set.
The wards of the Spaniard Guillermo Naranjo Hernandez lost two sets with a difference of only two points, managing a spectacular comeback from 13-8 to 13-15 in the first of them.
Before participating in the European Championship, Romania’s goal was to reach the 1/8 finals of the final tournament.

- The Romanian women’s national volleyball team has qualified for the European Championship 27 times, with the best result being the bronze medal won at the 1963 championship.
- The final European tournament will be held from August 15 to September 3 in four countries: Belgium, Italy, Germany and Estonia, and 24 teams will start.
- Italy became the champion of the title, and Romania took 23rd place in the previous tournament (out of 24 participating teams).
