Dynamo and Petrolul, two teams in full form, met again after eight years in one of the traditional derbies of Romanian football, scheduled for the 7th stage of the Super League.

“Dynamo” seems to have overcome the barrier to return to the first league and, after losing the first three matches in a row, won a draw (1:1 at the field of “U Cluj”) and two consecutive victories (1:0 at home against “Botosani” and 3-2 away from Voluntary), scoring seven points.

At home, the “red dogs” recorded a victory (1:0 against Botosani) and two defeats (0:2 against Universitat Craiova and 0:2 against Sepsi), and the top scorer of the team is Gonzalo Gregorio, who scored two goals.

“We brought players and we believe in them. We try to develop them, highlight their qualities. It takes some time to unlock your true potential. In the beginning, everything is difficult regarding their adaptation, but we have to be patient,” said Ovidiu Burke, Dynamo coach.

Petrolul were in 3rd place before this stage with 11 points, the Yellow Wolves managed to win their last three games, all played after the departure of Constantin Budescu, 3-2 with Farul (a), 2-0 with Rapid (d) and 4-3 with FCU 1948 Craiova (a).

Petrolul are unbeaten away from home this season, 1-1 at Botosani and 2-0 at Rapid, and have four players with two goals each: Giku Grozava, Zhair, Christian Irobiso and Alexander Musa.

“We have a very good group, we work very hard. It is about tactical discipline. Thanks to the fans for being with us. It’s a symbiosis between the crowd and the team,” said Florin Pirvu, the coach of Petrolula, who also announced the last-minute transfer of striker Mihai Roman II from Botosani, who also played for Ploiesti between 2011 and 2014.

Dynamo and Petrolul last met each other in the 2014-2015 season of the first league, when the Bucharesters won twice, 2-0 at home, on the tour and 2-1 away, in the second leg (the two teams played the control match of this year, March 25, in Săftica, ended in a draw, the score 1-1).
