Klara Toson managed to make a big surprise in the first round of the WTA tournament in Cleveland.

The athlete, who ranks 90th in the WTA hierarchy, beat Barbora Krejcikova (12th WTA), the winner of Roland Garros-2021 and the second favorite of the tournament, in two sets.

The Danish player needed just one hour and 30 minutes to secure her place in the next round, where she will face Leila Fernandez (72 WTA).

The tournament “Tennis in the Land” (Cleveland) is part of the WTA 250 category and has a total prize pool of $271,363. It will last from August 20 to 26 and will be played on hard. The title champion is Lyudmila Samsonova.
