Mason Greenwood, the footballer who was investigated after repeatedly assaulting his girlfriend, has been sacked by Manchester United, the club announced in a statement.

Mason Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 after his girlfriend posted several videos on social media showing her being assaulted by the Manchester United footballer.

He reported to the police himself, but he was checked on his release for bodily harm and attempted rape.

His girlfriend dropped the charges and he was released, with Manchester United announcing in a statement on Monday that they had decided to part ways with the 21-year-old.

Greenwood was the subject of an investigation at the club and the Old Trafford group took the drastic step of excluding him from the squad.

“Based on the evidence we have, we have come to the conclusion that the material published online does not give the full picture and that Mason did not commit the crime he was originally accused of. However, as Mason publicly admits today, he made mistakes for which he is responsible.

We therefore agreed that it would be best for him to continue his career away from Old Trafford and we will now work with Mason to find the best option.” – it is stated in the official press release of the club.

Mason Greenwood has not played football since January 22, 2022. His last appearance was against West Ham United, which ended 1-0 in favor of the Red Devils.
