The countdown match of the 6th stage of the Romanian championship “Rapid” – “Farul” is scheduled for Sunday, August 20, at 18:15 at the capital’s stadium “Julest” and will be broadcast live on Digi Sport 1, Orange Sport 1 and Prima Sport 1.
In the derby of the 6th stage of the Super League, two teams that are contenders for the championship, but have a hesitant start to this championship, being currently outside the playoffs, will meet Rapid and Farul.
Rapid have just five points after five legs and come off the back of two consecutive defeats, 1-2 away to Voluntari and 0-2 at home to Petrolul, and are still without a win in Giulesti, where they have also drawn two (0-0 with Sepsi and 2-2 with Botosani).
“I’m a 58-year-old coach who’s been through tough times with the teams he’s coached. I feel bad for the guys because I’ve seen them get destroyed morale-wise.
When I took over the team, I didn’t think things could stay like this. I didn’t go through the training camp, I didn’t get into the team, but that’s no excuse,” Juleste coach Cristiano Bergodi said.
Meanwhile, majority shareholder Dan Shuku has spent €1.4m on two recent transfers, Albion’s Kosovo striker Rrahmani, brought in from Ballkani for €600,000, and left-back Andrii Borza, brought in from Farul for €800,000 (constants also have 15% of the amount of the future transfer).
Farul has six points from four games (postponed the home game with UTA from the 5th stage) and sacrificed the championship in favor of the European course, so after two wins in the first two rounds, two defeats followed, 1-3 at home to Poli Yassa and 2-3 on the road with Petrolulul.
During this period, Farul recorded four successes in their previous Conference League matches, 3-2 (a) and 3-2 (d) with Urartu Yerevan and 3-0 (a) and 2-0 (d) with Flora Tallinn, managing to make it to playoff of the competition, where they will play a “double” with HIK Helsinki (August 24 – at home, August 31 – away).
Farul also moved into the transfer market and brought in Constantin Budescu, out of contract after parting ways with Petrolul, and Lui Munteanu, again on loan from Fiorentina, but lost out on Denis Alibek to Muaytair in Qatar.
“We have to fight for three points. Our goal is to get a result. Rapid looks very good. It will be a good match, everyone wants to win, let’s see who will succeed,” said Hyke Hagi, coach of Majak.
In the last championship, the two teams met four times: in the regular season they played a draw on the tour, in Giulesti, with a score of 1:1, and in return the “sailors” won with a score of 2:1, and in the playoffs there was a tie in Giulesti, 1-1, and in Ovidiu Farul beat Rapid 7-2.
Superbet offers odds of 1.72 on the PsFX prediction: a draw at half-time or the end of the match Rapid – Farul.
