The winner of ATP Toronto just three days ago, Italian Yannick Sinner felt tired in a match with Serbian Dusan Lajovic (66 ATP).
After two sets and a tie-break in two hours and five minutes of play, Lakiovych won 6-4, 7-6(4).
In the 1/8 finals, Dusan Lajović will meet with the favorite of the tournament at number 9, the American Taylor Fritz.
Norwegian Casper Ruud, seeded fifth in Cincinnati, lost in three sets to Australian Max Purcell (70 ATP).
The match lasted two hours and ended with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
In the next round, Purcell will meet the winner of the American Francis Tiafoe (10 ATP) and the Swiss Stan Waevrinka (51 ATP).
The Western & Southern Open (Cincinnati) is a tournament of the Masters 1000 series. The tournament will be held from August 14 to 20, 2023 with a total prize pool of $6,600,000. The champion of the title is Borna Corych.
