The last pool. Unfortunately, after a race in which he dominated, David Popovich lost badly on the last lap and finished the race in 4th place.

He has a fantastic pace, he is always first and last.

According to gsp.ro, David started his warm-up on the ground at 12:30 (Romanian time). A quarter of an hour later, he entered the pool where he had been practicing on lane 4, where he would compete in the grand final.

He was supervised by Adrian Redulescu (his coach), Dragos Luscan and Marcel Ivan. He left the pool at 1:12 p.m. At the end of the session, Popovici congratulated his parents and girlfriend, who were present in Fukuoka to support him.

In the semi-final, David showed the best time (he stopped the clock at 1:44.70), and in the grand final he will compete from lane 4.

David Popovici, two-time European and world champion in the summer of 2022

David Popovici won two gold medals at the European Swimming Championships in Rome in August 2022, our athlete was unstoppable in the 100m freestyle and also in the 200m freestyle.

We will remind you that in June 2022, David Popovich made a double at the World Swimming Championships in Budapest, having won the 100 m freestyle and 200 m freestyle.

During the entire World Swimming Championships, only one athlete managed to win the 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle events from the same edition.

It happened 49 years ago, and the one who ticks off this feat is called Jim Montgomery (USA – he is now 67 years old). That year, the competition was hosted by Belgrade.
