Marketa Vondrousova: “Wimbledon was the most unattainable of the Grand Slam tournaments”

Having undergone wrist surgery in 2022, Marketa did not think that she would be able to return to the elite of world tennis. In addition, this year before Wimbledon, she played only one tournament on grass (she reached the quarterfinals in Berlin).

“The most important thing is that I came back and I didn’t know if I would be able to achieve this or if I would be able to play at a high level again. So yes, what happened seemed impossible to me.

Especially since I never played well on grass before. Wimbledon was the most unattainable of the Grand Slams, so it never occurred to me that I could win it. But when I came here I said try to win some matches. Then… everything was crazy” – Market Vondrousova.
