The Romanian championship is coming back very quickly after the holidays, so the fans of our country can once again enjoy the action of the Super League, which will start on July 14, 2023. Farul Constanta, FCSB, CFR Cluj, Universitat Craiova and Rapid Bucuresti are all on the road again, trying to win the title. In addition, Politehnica Iași, Ocelul Galați and Dinamo Bucharest will make their long-awaited return to Romania’s first football arena.
Mayak starts with the 3rd chance in the new season
The group from the east of the country is rated with the 3rd chance of the trophy at odds of 6.00, excellent odds for fans of the group by the sea who want to place early sports bets on the winner in 2024.
Surprisingly or not, in the 2023/2024 season CFR Cluj gets its first chance to win the title again. Transylvania received a share of 3.25, followed by FCSB with a share of 3.50.
Farul managed to completely dominate FCSB and CFR Cluj last season, leaving them with 7 and 11 points respectively. However, this summer’s transfer campaign has not been inspired and Hagi has lost an important part of the squad in Louis Munteanu. He returned from his loan at Fiorentina.
The season got off to a bad start for Reggae, who lost the Romanian Super Cup after a 0-1 draw against Sepsi Sf.Gheorghe. At the end of the game, Constantza’s coach said:
“That’s it, we’re moving forward. We are at the beginning of the journey. We learn from all this. Head up. We have a lot of work to do, we are at the beginning of the journey and it was also evident tonight that some things were lost. New players who have to learn the system…Sirbu is learning, when you’re young, you learn from your mistakes. After he played really well, he helped us both defensively and offensively, he was in the game. That’s all, he shouldn’t have lost a person, she was his.”
Kolak over the mountain, the start of the season is full of a double fire round in the 1st preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League against the Moldovans from Sherif Tiraspol. Farul will debut in the new Superliga season on July 15, 2023 at 18:30 away from Hermannstadt. The match can be watched live on Digi Sport 1 and Orange Sport.
The season starts in Galatasaray
Ocellul Galats and UTA Arad are the two teams that will open the 2023/2024 Super League season. They will face each other at Stadionul Oțelul on July 14 from 18:30 – live on Digi Sport 1 & Orange Sport. In the evening, Rapid Bucharest will host Sepsi St. Gheorghe in one of the most interesting matches of the first round.
On Saturday, after the “Farului” match, CFR Cluj plays at home against “Polytechnics of Iasi”, which returned to the Super League this summer. A day later, Petrolul Ploiesti and Cluj University offer some classic Romanian football, while FCSB travel to Bani to face Craiova 1948.
The first round will end on July 17 with two matches:
- FC Voluntari vs. FC Botosani – 18:30

Many changes at the level of the technical stand
So far, there have been no spectacular transfers in the Super League. CFR Cluj strengthened with Vasyl Mogosz, Katalin Cabuz and Philp Otele, FCSB brought in Damian Djokovic, Aleksandar Beluce and Siyabong Ngezana, Farul Konstanza signed Rivaldinho, Nicolae Karna, Benhaib, Dussault, Jonutz Wiene or Fabio Vianna, and Katalin Kirjan was loaned from Arsenal to Arsenal Rapid Bucharest.
However, some very important steps have been taken regarding technical banks. Dan Petrescu left CFR Cluj due to the South Korean championship, and Andrea Mandorlini was brought in to replace him. Rapid Bucharest also parted ways with Adrian Mutu, and Cristiano Bergodi, the former technician of Sepsi Sf.Gheorghe, on the technical bench. The Italian received some reinforcements before arriving in Giulio, even from FCSB rivals Julian Cristea and Rezvan Oaide.
Liviu Chobotariu came to the bench of Sepsi, and Ilie Poenaru is in a new adventure in the Super League – with FC Voluntari. At the moment, FC U Craiova 1948 continues to decline, the team is left without a head coach. Also, fans from Botosani are waiting with open arms for Marius Kreitoru, who returned to the team this summer.
