Mirra Andreeva has qualified for the last 16 at Wimbledon 2023, with the 16-year-old Russian claiming her sixth win at the All England Club.

Ranked 101st at the start of the competition, Mirra defeated compatriot Anastasia Potapova 6-2, 7-5 on Sunday.

In the second set, Potapova led 4-1, but Andreeva showed incredible fighting spirit and came back.

In total, Mirra had 21 break points and converted 6.

Know:

  • The Russian will play in the 1/8 finals against the American Madison Keys (25th favorite).
  • Thanks to her performance at Wimbledon, Andreeva ranks 64th in the WTA Live ranking. If he passes Keys, Mirra will be in the top 50.

Who is Mirra Andreeva?

She is 16 years old, she is the youngest girl in the family (she has three more sisters). Sister Erika (18 years old) is ranked 149th in the world.

Raisa’s mother watched the Australian Open while pregnant with Erica (one of the older sisters) and passed on her love of tennis to the girls.
