The only representative of Romania in the men’s competition at Wimbledon, Viktor Vlad Kornia, did not make it to the main doubles draw.

Viktor Vlad Cornea and Dusan Lajovich refused to participate in Wimbledon-2023

Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic (Corney’s teammate) announced his defeat due to fatigue after losing in the first round in singles (5-7, 7-6(4), 6-2, 6-2) to Great Britain’s Jan Choynski.

In the men’s doubles, Cornea and Lajovic were replaced by the team of Gregoire Barrere / Quentin Halis.

Know:

• Nicolas David Ionel, the only Romanian in singles, was eliminated in the first round of qualifying: 1-6, (7)6-7 against Laurent Locoli.

• In the women’s singles, there are four representatives of Romania: Iryna Begu, Sorana Kirstia, Jacqueline Christian (1st round) and Ana Bohdan (2nd round).

• Several Romanians will play in the women’s doubles: Ana Bohdan/Jacqueline Christian, Iryna Begu (team with Angelina Kalinina), Gabriela Ruse (team with Marta Kostiuk) and Monica Niculescu (team with Nadia Podoroska).
