2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios will miss this year’s London Grand Slam after the Australian pulled out just hours before the event began.
Nick Kyrgios withdrew from Wimbledon-2023
After recently returning to the field after knee surgery, Nick announced that he had re-injured his wrist.
“I’ve been doing my best to be fit after the operation and to be able to get back on the Wimbledon courts. On my return, I hurt my wrist during a tournament in Mallorca.
As a precaution, I took an x-ray and it revealed a torn ligament in the wrist. I did everything to be able to play and I’m disappointed to say that I just didn’t have enough time to recover before Wimbledon.
I will be back and as always I appreciate the support of all my fans” – Nick Kyrgios on Twitter.
Kyrgios was scheduled to play David Goffen in the opening round. The Australian’s place will be taken by Hungarian Fabian Marozhan, who defeated Carlos Alcaraz at the Rome Masters this year.
Sorry to hear your news @NickKyrgios – we wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you on our courts next year uD83DuDE4F#Wimbledon pic.twitter.com/R0zl7i74Bd
