Aryna Sabalenko (25, 2 WTA) held her first conference in London, where she arrived to compete in Wimbledon, a tournament from which she was suspended last year due to the involvement of her home country, Belarus, in the war in Ukraine.

The athlete preceded the press conference by announcing that during her performance at Wimbledon, she would not speak at all about the war in Ukraine or her alleged support for the President of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenka, about which she has been frequently asked over the past year.

“Before I start, I want to say that I will not talk about politics. I’m only here to talk about tennis. Please respect that.

If you have such questions, you can contact the WTA, and they will send you a transcript of my answers from previous tournaments,” said Aryna Sabalenko.
