Despite not winning the Champions League since 2008 and the English title for a decade, Manchester United remains one of the most popular and profitable football clubs in the world.

So it’s no surprise that when the American Glazer family announced the sale of the club, a few eccentric billionaires organized a mad auction that was going to sell the club for a world record sum in the world of sports.

The Glazer family announced late last year that they wanted to sell their stake in Manchester United after more than 18 years at the helm of England’s most stalwart club.

The amount they want to get for the club from Old Trafford is at least 6 billion pounds, that is, almost 7 billion euros.
