Caroline Wozniacki retired from tennis in January 2020, but the 2018 Australian Open champion (defeated Simona Halep in the final) announced that she will return to the court at the age of 33 (she turns 11 on July 11), after giving birth to two children.

In an article in Vogue magazine, the athlete from Denmark said that she feels that she can still achieve significant results in white sports.

“Three years ago, having achieved almost everything I planned, I left my professional career. I wanted to start a family and I needed a break. I had no idea how long this break would last.

But one day late last year, I found myself training, and when my dad visited me in Florida, I knew I needed some advice.

I played for 20-30 minutes – I don’t know how much, but at one point I looked at him and said, “I feel like I’m hitting better than ever.” Am I imagining it or is it real?”

  • Wozniacki held the top spot in the WTA rankings for 71 weeks and won 30 tournaments in her career (she also ticked off a Grand Slam tournament). He collected 35 million dollars in prize money in tennis alone.
  • Caroline became a mother for the first time on June 11, 2021, when little Olivia was born. In October 2022, Wozniacki announced the birth of James’ second child. The Dane’s husband is David Lee, a former NBA player. They got married in 2019.

Former world leader Wozniacki will play in Montreal (August 7-13) and the US Open (August 28-September 10), and in 2024 she wants to participate in the Australian Open and the Olympic Games in Paris.

“So I’ll be playing the US Open. There’s an electric atmosphere in New York that I can’t help but enjoy, and I’ve played so well there for so many years. Also, David (not her husband) was with the New York Knicks for five seasons – we both love this place.

I’ll start by playing in Montreal to get back into the loop, and then we’ll all go to New York. After that I’ll have a few months to prepare for Australia and we’ll go from there. The Paris Olympics is also definitely a goal.

How long will I be able to play at my highest level – a year, two years, three years? I do not know. But I know that in five years, when the children go to school, it will be too late.
