Emma Reducanu regrets not winning the US Open final

Reducanu won the US Open in 2021 when he was 18 years old. Since then, she has not achieved noticeable results due to injuries.

“Since then, I have had many problems, one after another. I’m resilient, my tolerance is high, but it’s not easy. And sometimes I think to myself that I wish I had never won the US Open,” Emma Reducanu told the Sunday Times.

Success at the US Open brought Emma Redukan praise, but it also exposed the athlete to a world she didn’t know, often harsh and full of expectations.

“I had to mature very quickly. When I won, I was extremely naive. Over the past two years, I have come to realize that everything that comes with a scheme is not a very pleasant, secure and safe environment. You have to be very careful because there are a lot of sharks.

I think people in the field, especially me because I was 19 and now I’m 20, see me as a piggy bank. It was difficult to manage the situation. I learned that the circle should be as small as possible,” said the British athlete, writes News.ro.

At the age of 20, Emma Raducanu is ranked 128th in the world after being ranked 10th a year ago.
