
Romanian tennis player Petru-Alexandru Lunkanu (34) has been disqualified for five years for numerous violations of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP), the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) confirmed on Friday.

The case was heard by independent anti-corruption officer Raj Parker, who upheld five of the five allegations made by ITIA relating to match-fixing between 2017 and 2021, as well as the failure to co-operate with an ITIA investigation in 2022.
Parker emphasized that Lunkanu, whose best ATP singles ranking was No. 304 in 2009, violated the TACP by manipulating or influencing several aspects of certain matches by directly or indirectly facilitating betting on those matches.
In addition, Lunganu withdrew his consent to the mobile phone analysis requested by the ITIA investigator.
Lunkan, who has denied all charges, will not be allowed to play, train or attend any tennis events organized or held under the auspices of international tennis forums until June 8, 2028. The player was also fined $40,000, Agerpres reports. .
