After the first set won by the athlete from Russia, the second was much more balanced, even if Medvedev needed only two games to win.

Mannarino showed maturity at the end and managed to equalize.

In the decisive set, the French confidently dominated, leading with a score of 4-1 and could not miss the qualification after a game that lasted two hours.

Former world number one Medvedev won titles in Rotterdam, Doha, Dubai, Miami and Rome this year and lost the final in Indian Wells.

Adrian Mannarino will meet the winner of Australian Jordan Thompson and Canadian Milos Raonic in the quarterfinals.
