At the end of a very poor season despite investment, the London club’s owners Todd Boley and Behdad Eghbali issued a statement to fans on Thursday accepting responsibility for this year’s mistakes.
The promise given to fans by patrons of London Chelsea
Chelsea have fallen short of all their targets this season, finishing 12th in the league, their lowest finish since 1994, despite spending more than £500m on transfers.
During the 2022-2023 season, two managers were sacked, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, and the third, Frank Lampard, had six defeats, one win and two draws in his last nine league games, according to News.ro.
American executives of the London club, Todd Boley and Behdad Eghbali, issued an appeal to fans on Thursday.
“It’s been a little over a year since we completed the acquisition of Chelsea. We promised to make our fans proud. We remain fully committed to this long-term plan for our club and want to deliver on our promise to you. (…)
It’s obviously been a disappointing season for our men’s team and there are many things we can do better and we will do better. Despite all the challenges of the past year, we are optimistic about the future.
During these difficult times, our fans have supported our players and team by being with us at home and in Europe with unwavering loyalty. We couldn’t be more grateful for your incredible support.
We are proud to have established a Supporters Advisory Committee, which will meet for the first time this summer, and we are confident that its new members will ensure that you are at the heart of the decision-making process at our club. We will continue to make sure your voices are heard as we look to the future,” club officials said in a statement on Thursday.
