Iga Sviatek (1 WTA) made it to the finals of Roland Garros without too many emotions, defeating the Brazilian Beatrice Haddad Maia (14 WTA) with a score of 6-2, 7-6(7) in the semifinals on Thursday.

The world leader left no room for surprises in the semi-final match with an athlete from Brazil, which she finished after two sets.

Iga controlled the first set, which was somewhat even at 2-2, from where the Pole won four games in a row.

In the second set, Haddad Maia became much more aggressive, leading 3-1, but Sviatek came back after three successful games in a row.

The end was decided by a tie-break that was close to the end of the set, the score 9-7 in favor of the Pole.

In the finals of the Roland Garros tournament, Iga Sviatek will meet Karolina Mukhova (43 WTA), who unexpectedly eliminated second favorite Aryna Sabalenko in the semifinals.

The main favorite of the tournament has two trophies at Roland Garros, won in 2020 and 2022.

The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
