
Lorenzo Sonego produced the best result in the men’s draw at Roland Garros: the Italian led 2-0 in sets against Andriy Rublev, but eventually qualified for the round of 16.

The favorite for the Paris Grand Slam 7, Rublev started the match much better and appeared to be on his way to an easy victory after winning his first two sets, 7-5, 6-0.
Sonego (48 ATP) raised the level of his game, taking advantage of the Russian’s mistakes and winning in three sets: 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3.
The match at the Suzanne-Lenglen arena lasted three hours and 42 minutes.
Lorenzo will battle another Russian for a place in the quarters after Karen Khachanov (11th seed) defeated Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis (108 ATP) 6-4, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(5) .
The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
