Gabriela Ruse tried to calm Marta Kostiuk about the behavior of Russian and Belarusian women in the WTA

Marta is one of the biggest challenges of rivals from Russia and Belarus, the athlete constantly refuses to shake their hands. In addition, Kostyuk also made a number of statements in which he criticized the lack of attitude of female athletes from the specified countries to the war in Ukraine.

“It’s not an easy situation for her, and I think it’s not an easy situation for Russian girls, nor for Belarusians, nor for any girl from these parts (not in the conflict zone). I don’t know what to say now, she does not agree with what is happening and has problems with girls from these countries (without Russia and Belarus).

But I explained to him that they have nothing to do with each other. But she always tells me that it is necessary to somehow intervene and say that they do not agree with the war. Now I do not interfere, because it is not my job and I try to stay in my peaceful country, without war” – Gabriela Ruse, for HotNews.ro.

Gabriela Ruse about her chemistry with Marta Kostiuk

When asked what is the secret of the special connection she has with Marta Kostiuk, Gabriela Ruse answered that there are several things that bring them together: an aggressive style of play and a special energy that they develop together.

“I think we both have energy and that’s what makes us play so well. The fact that we are both probably aggressive and always trying to score new points. At the moment everything is going very well (there is no cooperation between the two players)” – Gabriela Ruse.

Gabriela Ruse and the future coach: “For 99.9% it will be a foreigner”

Gabi, who is currently ranked 157th in the WTA singles ranking, also touched on the topic of the coach (Ruse does not have a technician, she is alone on the track).

The athlete admits that 99.9% of the time the new coach will be a foreigner. Gabriela also explains her decision.

“I feel good (not without a coach on the track), I’m glad to be here again (not in Paris). Over time, I realized that everything starts with me and the player himself.

That is, the coach comes to tell you certain things for nothing if you can’t or don’t want to listen to him. So all the power is clearly in me. Now, of course, I wish I had a coach because it’s not easy, but I’m happy with what I have. Because I have my own physical education trainer who helps me a lot to be in shape, to be healthy.

At the moment I have it, I don’t know what it will be. I have options, but I don’t have a plan. I want to discover myself day by day and that’s all.

99.9% percent will be a foreigner, because I don’t think I can adapt to the Romanian way of thinking, or anything else. Just now, I don’t know, if an idea comes to me and I have some instant inspiration for a coach from Romania, I will definitely take it.

I mean, I’m a fan of Romanians, our school from a tennis point of view, but not from a mental point of view. I don’t want to make a decision right now because I don’t want to change again in a month.

I want to check, see what and how, in several contexts: for better, for worse, when I’m sick, when I have a problem, and only then will I make a decision” – Gabriela Ruse.
