Iryna Begu reached the third round of the Roland Garros tournament. The Romanian beat Sara Errani, the 2012 finalist, in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.

Iryna Begu eliminated Sarah Errani in the second round of Roland Garros

Iryna Begu, ranked 27th in the WTA rankings, advanced to the third round of Roland Garros by knocking out 2012 finalist Sarah Errani (73rd WTA).

The Romanian played two pretty solid sets, and it took her an hour and 12 minutes to advance to the next stage of the competition.

Thanks to this success, Iryna Begu will receive 142,000 euros and 130 points in the WTA singles ranking.

In the next round, Iryna Begu will meet with Karolina Mukhova (43 WTA). In the previous round, the player from the Czech Republic beat Nadya Podoroska (103 WTA) with a score of 6-3, 0-6, 6-3.

The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
