On respiratory support in a hospital in Seville, Sergio Rico has little chance of survival.
The 29-year-old Paris Saint-Germain player suffered a horse-riding accident in the Andalusia region after the horse he was riding became unmanageable.
He suffered a neck injury and a serious head injury and has been in the intensive care unit of the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville for several days.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, said in a statement published on the club’s official website that he had decided to cancel the end-of-season dinner following the unfortunate incident involving Sergio Rico.
“The situation we are in requires our full attention and forces us to cancel the traditional gala celebration. The entire Paris Saint-Germain family is deeply affected by the tragedy of Sergio Rico and his family. On behalf of the club, I want to assure him of our full support.” – he said.
Sergio Rico, who joined PSG from Sevilla in 2019, made 24 appearances for the Parisian club. He was loaned to Mallorca for the second half of last season.
