The ex-leader of the world ranking (July 2017) and double finalist of the Grand Slam (US Open 2016 and Wimbledon 2021) Pliskova lost after an hour and 25 minutes of play to the American Stevens (30 WTA), the score 6-0, 6-4.

In the next round, Sloan (2017 US Open champion) will meet the winner of the match between Varvara Grachova (41 WTA) and Dalma Galfi (98 WTA).

The American’s best performance on clay in Paris came in 2018, when she lost to Simona Halep in the final.

The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
