
The pair of Monica Niculescu / Makoto Ninomiya (Romania / Japan) lost on Thursday the semifinals of the doubles of the Rabat Grand Prix tournament in Morocco and did not get to the final, where the Japanese woman won last year.

Both were defeated in a super tiebreak by the pair of Sabrina Santamaria (USA) / Yan Syzikov (Russia) with a score of 1-6, 6-4, 12-10.
The game lasted one hour and 34 minutes.
In the finals of the tournament, Santamaria and Sizikova will meet Lidia Marozava (Belarus) and Ingrid Gamarra Martins (Brazil).
Monica Niculescu’s Japanese partner Makoto Ninomiya is the reigning doubles champion of the Rabat tournament together with her compatriot Eri Hozumi.
The Rabat Grand Prix is the only WTA outdoor clay court tournament in Africa with a total prize pool of $251,750.
