Knocked out of the WTA Madrid in the first round as a 15-year-old, the Canadian could not get past the quarterfinals in Rabat.
The first set belonged to the American, but in the second set, the ex-finalist of the US Open 2021 made a great comeback and turned the match into a decisive one.
In the third set, Peyton Stearns once again categorically won against the fifth favorite of the tournament.
In the semifinals, Peyton Stearns will meet her compatriot Sloane Stephens (35 WTA), seeded at number two.
The Rabat Grand Prix is the only WTA outdoor clay court tournament in Africa with a total prize pool of $251,750. The titular champion is Italian Martina Trevisan.
