Honda will return in full force to Formula 1 starting from the 2026 season, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.
Honda is returning to Formula 1 from 2026 as an engine supplier to Aston Martin
The Japanese withdrew from the Grand Prix following Max Verstappen’s dramatic 2021 title victory. Of course, Honda is not 100% out of Formula 1, the Japanese continue to provide technical support to the leaders of RedBull (the partnership will end at the end of the 2025 season).
However, from 2026 everything will change: Honda will return to F1 as an engine supplier (as recently for McLaren between 2015 and 2017, but also for RedBull). He will do it not for RedBull, but for Aston Martin.
The British team had a very good 2023 season: they are second in the constructors’ standings with 102 points.
Fernando Alonso is 3rd in the drivers’ standings (75 points) and Lance Stroll is 8th (with 27 points). Currently, Aston Martin uses power units from Mercedes.
On the other hand, RedBull will use Ford engines from the 2026 season.
