Radu Nice won the gold medal for Romania in the individual saber event at the European U23 Fencing Championships in Budapest.

In the grand final, he defeated Alexandra Zmau with a score of 15-13, to whom the silver medal returned.

Bronze went to Santiago Madrigal, who was defeated by Zmau 15-10 in the semifinals, and Gergo Horvath, who was defeated by Nice 15-12 in the penultimate act.

Matej Sidu, whom Horvath defeated in the quarters with a score of 15-13, took the 6th place. Raresh Aylinka took 32nd place.

Anka Seveanu finished 10th in the women’s rapier event, while Andrea Dinka stopped in the round of 16.

“Romanian medals from Budapest – a podium with two tricolors and the first medals for Romania. Radu Nice (CS Riposta Bucharest) and Alexandru Zmeu (CSA Steaua Bucharest) brought gold and silver to Romanian sports. Next to them was Matei Cidu (CSA Steaua Bucharest) – 6th place.
