Simona Halep wants to prove her innocence in court, but the trial of the former world leader was postponed for the third time by ITIA. Even if important names in tennis expressed their opinion about the situation that the Romanian is going through, the players from the WTA preferred to remain silent.

Patrick Muratoglu says WTA players are afraid to support Simona Halep

Simona was provisionally suspended after testing positive for Roxadustat at the 2022 US Open, and the ITIA recently accused the former WTA leader of irregularities in her biological passport (ABP).

Someone asked Simona in a recent post why she wasn’t supported by her teammates on the track, and coach Patrick Muratoglu expressed his opinion in a short message: “They are scared. And they have good reason to be…”.

The ITIA wants both cases involving Simona Halep to be heard at the same time

According to Express.co.uk, ITIA said it had asked for the trial scheduled for May 28 to be postponed because it wanted both cases to be heard on the same day.

“I proposed that both charges be dealt with at the same hearing to avoid repeated hearings. For this to happen, we want all parties involved, including the Tribunal, to have sufficient time to process the large amount of evidence in this case.

Ultimately, the decision rests with the court. Simona Halep will also have the opportunity to present her arguments before the Tribunal.” ITIA claims.

The ITIA says a doping review can take up to a year

In a statement on its official website, the ITIA (not the International Tennis Integrity Agency) outlined the steps it takes in the case of an athlete who tests positive, such as Simona Halep’s: Test/samples sent to lab/analytics. results reported / results analyzed / contact with player / suspension / athlete’s charge / player’s response / player fully admits / player only partially admits / decision and sanction / player objects / court / tribunal decision and sanction / appeal.

  • The news that Simona Halep was temporarily suspended for doping appeared on Friday, October 21, 2022.

  • Simona Halep is temporarily suspended from tennis due to a positive test for Roxadustat (conducted during the US Open 2022).
