Alliance (El Salvador) will play without spectators this year

The tragedy occurred after 15 minutes of play at the Cuscatlán stadium in San Salvador, where a deadly stampede occurred.

At least 12 people died in the stadium, and more than 500 people sought medical attention.

“Responsibility for the events that took place at the Cuscatlán Stadium during the match rests with (Alianza), as the local team and therefore the organizer of the match,” the disciplinary committee of the El Salvador Football Federation (FESFUT) said in a statement. .

As a result, the club was forced to “play behind closed doors, without the support of spectators, for one year” and pay a fine of $30,000 by July 21, the federation said.

The DFSFU also found that Alianza “failed to take steps to prevent the events” or did so “negligently”. In particular, it was found that ALL of the stadium’s access controls were “clearly faulty”.

The rival club, FAS, was declared the winner in the second leg of the quarter-final play-off of the local championship, and Alyansa, who lost the first leg 1-0, were eliminated.

In addition, the host club, which claims to be involved in the judicial investigation, was accused of “lack of cooperation” by the federation because it did not submit a report to the disciplinary committee, News.ro said.
