Holger Roon defeated by Daniil Medvedev in ATP Rome final

After the start of the match was delayed due to adverse weather conditions, the Russian controlled the first set, and the Dane managed to fight back and equalize each time, but in the end Medvedev broke free.

Rune was leading 2-0 and 5-3 in the second set with a great chance to take the match to a deciding set, but again Daniil Medvedev’s experience spoke for itself as he managed to finish much quicker.

The game lasted one hour and 43 minutes.

During his career, Holger Rune (20 years old) won the Munich 2022 and 2023, Stockholm 2022 and ATP Masters 1000 Paris 2022 tournaments.

Former world number one Medvedev also won titles in Rotterdam, Doha, Dubai and Miami this year and lost in the Indian Wells final.

The Rome Masters was held from May 10 to 21 on clay, was part of the ATP 1000 category, had a total prize pool of €7,705,780, Novak Djokovic was the reigning champion, and Rafael Nadal holds the record for titles at the Italian Forum (10).
