The European Handball Federation released the group schedule for the 2024 European Championship on Tuesday, where the tricolors will make their debut against Austria.

The schedule of the European Championship-2024 in Romania for men’s handball

According to the EGF, the match between Romania and Austria is the first in Group B, on January 12 at 19:00. On the same day, Spain will also play Croatia. On January 14, Romania will play Spain (19:00), and in the last game of Group B, they will meet Croatia on January 16 (19:00). Group B matches are played in Mannheim.

The two best places in each group will advance to the main group stage.

The CE2024 final tournament will take place from January 10 to 28 in six cities in Germany, with the opening match between Germany and Switzerland taking place in Dusseldorf and the final in Cologne, News.ro reports.

Romania entered the final tournament based on the results of the previous group 4: 26-28 and 25-17 with the Faroe Islands, 32-36 and 30-35 with Austria, 34-26 and 26-31 with Ukraine.

The Romanian national team last participated in the final tournament of the European Championship in 1996, when it took 9th place out of 12 participating teams.

The title of European champion in 2022 was won by Sweden.
