Both lost in a super tiebreak to Ulrikke Eikeri (Norway) / Miya Kato (Japan), 6-4, 4-6, 10-6.
The game lasted one hour and 39 minutes.
Ackery and Kato will face No. 3 favorites Desiree Krawczyk (USA) and Demi Schoors (Netherlands) in the quarterfinals.
WTA Rome takes place from May 9 to 20 on the clay in the Foro Italico complex. His total prize money is $3,572,618 and is in the “WTA 1000” category. Titled doubles champions are Russians Veronika Kudermetova and Anastasia Palyutsenkova.
