At the “WTA 1000” tournament in Rome, Maria Sakkari stopped in the third round, the athlete from Greece (8th place in the world) was defeated in two sets by Marketa Vondrousova (70th place).

Finalist at Roland Garros in 2019, Vondrousova won in one hour and 28 minutes against the 9th seed from Forum Italico with a score of 7-5, 6-3.

In the round of 16, Marketa will play the winner of the match between Anna Kalinska (57 WTA) and Olena Rybakina (6 WTA, 7 seeds).
