Kenin, who is ranked 134th in the world, lost in two sets to Ukrainian Angelina Kalinina (47 WTA, 30th seed) with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
The game was interrupted by several periods of rain and lasted one hour and 37 minutes.
Kalinina will beat the winner of the match between Victoria Azarenka (14th seed) and Madison Keys (19th seed) in the round of 16 at the Foro Italico.
WTA Rome takes place from May 9 to 20 on the clay in the Foro Italico complex. His total prize money is $3,572,618 and is in the “WTA 1000” category. Iga Svyatek became the champion of the last two competitions.
