Maria Sakkari knocked out Paula Badosa from WTA Madrid
Maria Sakkari (9 ATP), the ninth seed in Madrid, advanced to the quarter-finals after overcoming Paula Badoza (42 WTA).
The former runner-up had no chance against the US Open 2021 and Roland Garros 2021 semi-finalist, losing in one hour and 28 minutes.
In the first set, both players went head-to-head until the score was 3-3, and the athlete from Greece managed to break away and win the first action.
The second set was even better for the WTA No. 9, who eventually advanced to the quarterfinals despite opposition from Paula Badosa.
