In 1921, the Afroudakis family came from Smyrna to Athens, bringing in their refugee suitcases a love of sports and Apollo Smyrna. In 102 years, her descendants will be among those who will give the historic club its first trophy in its 132-year history: the European Cup.
In the Teras pool, the polo team wrote the first “golden” page of its history. Father Afrudakis, who wore a 51-year-old medal around his neck, watched the match among others. A medal that was charming but also symbolic of the polo section of the Asia Minor club.
