Victoria Azarenka crashed out in the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid after losing in straight sets to Alicia Parks.

Victoria Azarenka lost to Alicia Parks at the WTA in Madrid

The athlete, who is ranked 54th in the WTA hierarchy, conquered the mountain in an hour and 45 minutes before the Belarusian (ex-world leader and champion of the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013) with a score of 6-2, 7-6(5).

In the first set, the American lost only two games (winning in 42 minutes), and in the second act they were divided into a tie-break, where the player from the States also won.

Alicia Parks will meet Martina Trevisan (20 WTA) in the next round of the competition. The Italian eliminated Eugenie Bouchard (285 WTA, Wimbledon-2014 finalist), score 6-2, 7-5.

The WTA Mutua Madrid Open takes place from April 25 to May 7 on clay at the Caja Magica complex. It is in the WTA 1000 category, has a total prize money of US$7,652,174, and the title holder is Ons Jabert. Simona Halep won in 2016 and 2017.
