
Former 2014 Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard qualified for the second round of the ‘WTA 1000’ in Madrid after defeating Diana Jastremska (149 WTA) 6(6)-7, 6-2, 6-2.

Based on the qualification, the Canadian, who was ranked 5th in the world in 2014, lost the first set on a tie-break, after an even match with Yastremska.
In the next two sets, the Ukrainian did not rise to the level of the beginning of the match, and Bouchard categorically dominated and awarded her the victory.
The match lasted two hours and 21 minutes.
In the second round, Eugenie Bouchard (285 WTA) will meet the Italian Martina Trevisan (20 WTA).
The WTA Mutua Madrid Open takes place from April 25 to May 7 on clay in the Caja Magica complex. It is in the WTA 1000 category, has a total prize money of US$7,652,174, and the title holder is Ons Jabert. Simona Halep won in 2016 and 2017.
