Sorana, ranked 44th in the world, took two hours to overcome American Lauren Davis (WTA No. 56) 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.

  • For reaching the second round, Sorana Kirstya will receive 27,045 euros and 35 points in the WTA singles ranking.
  • In the second round, Kirstya will play against Aryna Sabalenko (2 WTA), whom she defeated in the quarterfinals at the Miami Open.
  • The athlete from Belarus won this year at the Australian Open and in Adelaide, and also reached the final act in Indian Wells and in Stuttgart.
  • Romania is also represented at the Caja Magica competition by Ana Bohdan and Iryna Begu (both qualified in the second round). Gabriela Ruse is playing in the qualifiers and can also reach the main draw.
